Learning Communities

The pastoral system at Oasis Academy Hadley is organised into six all age Learning Communities. All students and staff belong to one of the Learning Communities. Following a competition the Communities have been named after famous people reflecting our three specialisms:

  • Mathematics – Pascal and Somerville
  • ICT – Gates and Sugar
  • Music – Lennox and Wonder

Each Community is divided into twelve Learning Groups of no more than 18 students, supported by a Learning Guide. The Learning Guide stays with the Learning Group as they progress through the Academy.  They get to know the student’s interests, skills and needs and work with the students and their parents/carers to personalise their learning, helping them choose the right courses and ensuring they develop the skills needed for effective learning.  The members of a Learning Group are encouraged to support and guide each other, sharing experiences and knowledge. We believe that students encouraging one another and offering peer support further motivates students to succeed.  In addition, the Learning Communities are used to develop student leadership, competitions, performances and enterprise activities.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
