The 2011 Mayor’s Award Evening was held at Southgate School this year. The event was attended by the Mayor of Enfield and students and teachers from Enfield schools. It was a delightful evening with full of fun and interesting experiments. The Audience watched in anticipation as a balloon was filled up with Dry ice and thrown towards the Audience. It was followed by a thick cloud of smoke which started diffusing across the floor; the finale was followed by a big crash and bang. It felt like Star Wars had made a comeback with the Plasma ball.

When George Sampson was working his way to win Britain’s Got Talent in 2007, Nabi Koroglu had not a shred of interest in dancing. That is until his cousin invited him along to watch a lesson. Now, at just 12, Nabi is being tipped to go right to the top.
All of the performers in the concert have been taking lessons all term as well as rehearsing regularly at lunchtimes and after school and on December 6th it was their chance to present their talents.

As part of its increasing level of community activities, Oasis Academy Hadley have today opened their brand-new Youth Club.
This week saw Oasis Academy Hadley’s first ever primary pupils walk through its doors as their brand new primary provision opened for the first time.
Oasis Academy Hadley are delighted to announce that our GCSE results have seen a good improvement on last year, significantly seeing us break through the National floor target for 5+A*-C’s including English and Maths.
Oasis Academy Hadley’s first A-Level and Level 2 results as an Academy are encouraging and will allow a period of consolidation before further improving in the future. Results show that they have done better than predicted achieving the highest A*-B grades. Students achieved particularly well in terms of the higher grades compared to what was predicted from national data.
Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning, Steve Chalke, said, “Following last Friday’s announcement by Secretary of State, Michael Gove, we are extremely pleased to have received written confirmation that the new build for Oasis Academy Hadley will go ahead."
On the 17th April seven people including three teachers and three students from Oasis Academy Hadley took part in The Julian Campbell Foundation charity parachute jump. Together they raised over £2,000 for this great local charity, set up to support teenagers with depression and bipolar disorder.

17 year old Jordan Arthur was crowned World Schools 100m Champion in November last year and has now scooped a ‘Special Recognition Award’ at the inaugural Oasis Community Learning Annual Awards held in Birmingham on the 11th May.
The Careers Fair was organised to raise students awareness of the variety of careers and businesses that are in the local community.
Leanne and her brother collected a total of six silver and six bronze medals at the competition and helped the London Disabled Swimming Squad to come 6th out of the twelve teams competing.

What is HONK!? Well Honk is based on Hans Christian Andersen's "The Ugly Duckling", “Honk!” tells the story of an odd looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother.
Student Leader representatives from all 11 Oasis Academies met in Westminster on the 25th November to get their voices heard!
After the local incident on Thursday 15th October 2009 the Police have agreed to be at the Academy over the next few days to ensure our students are safe on their way to and from the Academy. Academy staff will continue to patrol outside the Academy at the start and end of the day. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
