At a time when the European Union is never out of the headlines, its politics and decision-making were brought to life for two students from Oasis Academy Hadley last week when they took part in a Mock Council of the European Union.
The Academy drive on literacy has seen a number of students within our learning communities participate in a book review competition. The competition was launched in assemblies and has led to a number of students submitting reviews of books they have read. The students of Oasis Academy Hadley are committed to assisting our Oasis partner projects in Uganda, particularly those which provide education to children of a similar age. A small group of 6th form students from the Academy had taken up the challenge to cycle a distance of 200 miles. The ride took place between the 4th and 7th July.

In what can only be described as a whirlwind 2 years, Oasis Academy Hadley have for their second year smashed their GCSE records. An amazing 47% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, an increase of 20% since the academy opened in 2009. In addition 84% of students achieved 5 A* - C grades, a fantastic increase of 46% in two years.
Oasis Academy Hadley students are said to be ‘rising quickly’ in their attainment levels according to a recent monitoring inspection by Ofsted in which the Academy received a judgement of good progress
Warren Harper attended the Graffiti Art course during the summer and loved it so much he asked Kate Smith, our Youth Development worker at the Academy if the artist could return and run new workshops after school.
It was an exciting and tense time for the 200 students in the hall who sat their early entry GCSE English and Maths and were waiting to receive their results.
