In what can only be described as a whirlwind 2 years, Oasis Academy Hadley have for their second year smashed their GCSE records. An amazing 47% of students achieved 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, an increase of 20% since the academy opened in 2009. In addition 84% of students achieved 5 A* - C grades, a fantastic increase of 46% in two years.
There were exceptional performances across the board with the number of A* and A grades more than doubling and some outstanding individual achievements. In Maths 67% gained a grade C or above and 93% of students achieved a grade C or above in Religious Studies and 87% of students in Psychology.
In addition to this the Academy saw their A-level pass rate increase to an impressive 98%.
Principal of Oasis Academy Hadley, Lynne Dawes said "This has been a truly inspirational year. As well as the many high achieving students there are many stories of potential underachievers, achieving high standards despite facing some challenging circumstances. The amount of work from students and staff has been quite incredible, and the support from parents and carers and the wider Academy community have been invaluable. I would like to congratulate every person who has played their part in making this Academy a success. We realise that there is a lot more work to do, but we now have wonderful foundations to go on and be one of the best schools in the area."
Oasis Academy Hadley has already moved a long way forward since it opened in 2009. A new building has been approved with funding secured and will open in 2012. The brand new Primary phase, which will lay foundations for the future education of children in the area, opened last September. The recent Ofsted report recognised student attainment is 'rising quickly' and now the latest GCSE and A level results, all point towards a very positive future in store for the Oasis Academy Hadley community.
