Examination Successes
Academic year 2009-2010 proved to be very successful for the new Academy. The percentage of students achieving the best grades at both GCSE and A Level rose significantly when compared to the results of the predecessor school.
60% of our Year 11 students achieved 5 good GCSE passes (A*-C) an increase of 21% on the pass rate of the predecessor school. At A level we saw big improvements as well with both pass rates and percentage of A*-B grades increasing by 7%.
For the first time, Year 9 students took BTEC examinations equivalent to 2 good GCSE passes and I am pleased to inform you that 84% achieved two grades C or above. In addition, over 100 students in Year 10 took their GCSE's in Maths or English a year early and have achieved an A*-C pass in one or both of these subjects.
Our students, staff, parents and carers are very proud of these achievements. These successes provide an excellent foundation for the future.
