Parent Support

Information Fayre - Thursday 1st March 2012

INFO FAYRE

Parent Support Advisers (PSA) work alongside parents and carers, helping them achieve better outcomes for their children.

Parenting Support aims to equip parents and carers with the skills to support their child's education and to deal effectively with issues that could affect their families' well-being.

The Parent Support Advisers works directly with parents/carers to provide support that can encourage their children to feel settled and secure, both the Academy and at home.

We work together with parents and Carers to strengthen their existing parenting abilities. Involving parents/carers in their children's education can help remove barriers to learning, improve attitudes and behaviour and raise attainment.

We do this by..

  • Working with parents and carers to try to help with issues around their children's behaviour.
  • Working in partnership with parents and carers in helping access any further services a family may need.
  • Working with parents and carers to try to make sure that children are getting the most out of the Academy and are safe and happy.
  • Support families who are coping with isolation, bereavement, illness, disability.
  • Support to parents/carers finding parenting a struggle.

How do we do this?

  • Parenting Workshops provide an opportunity for parents/carers to gain confidence, meet others and become more involved in their own community
  • Emotional support to help parents find ways to manage and resolve problems
  • Support for parents/carers with establishing routines, positive parenting, practical help and budgeting
  • Reduce family isolation and increase social support networks
  • Offer one-to-one support
  • Listen to parent/carers and give confidential support and guidance
  • Offer regular meetings at the Academy
  • Signpost to specialist services
  • Support parents/carers to take up learning opportunities

Remember: Parenting isn't an easy job, and at times things can get tough. Like every other parent you want what's best for your child.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
