Christmas at Oasis Academy Hadley 2024

Christmas at Oasis Academy Hadley 2024

The holiday season was in full swing at our academy this December, with loads of fun, festive and activities that brought everyone together. From performances to charity efforts, and delicious food - there was something for everyone to enjoy. Here's a look back at all the ways we celebrated Christmas this year!

Christmas Trees Around the Academy
It wouldn't be Christmas without some twinkling lights and sparkling decorations! Our school looked incredible, thanks to the Christmas trees set up around the academy. Each one was decorated with care, featuring handmade ornaments from Phase 1.

The Nativity Play - Year 1 and Reception
Our littlest stars in Year 1 and Reception kicked things off with an adorable Nativity performance. Dressed up as angels, shepherds and the holy family, the children retold the Christmas story with so much enthusiasm. Parents and teachers could not stop smiling as they sung and busted out the choreography. A super sweet performance.

Christmas Carols - Years 2 to 6
Next up, students in Years 2 to 6 put on an amazing Christmas carol performance for parents in the Zebra Playground. They sang classics like Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The singing was... interesting... and got everyone into the Christmas spirit! Huge shout-out to the teachers who organised and helped make it happen!

Festive Lunch - Phase 1 and Phase 2
What's Christmas without a good meal? Both Phase 1 and Phase 2 students enjoyed a proper festive lunch, complete with roast turkey, stuffing and all the trimmings. Even Christmas crackers! The dining halls were decorated beautifully and everyone had a yummy time.

Phase 1 Christmas Movie: Home Alone
For a well deserved treat, children in Phase 1 enjoyed a screening of the Christmas classic Home Alone. The hall was full of giggles as Kevin McCallister outsmarted the burglars, and it was the perfect way to relax and enjoy the festive season together.

Library Festivities: Christmas Display and Poetry Competition
The library was well dressed up for Christmas with a festive book display full of holiday classics and wintery stories. Plus there was a Christmas poetry competition that gave students the chance to show off their creative writing skills, The entries were amazing, and everyone who participated deserves a big round of applause. Thanks to the library staff for making the space feel so warm and festive!

Sixth Form Student Leaders' Christmas Fun
Our Sixth Form Student Leaders really brought the fun this year with a bunch of festive activities:

  • Christmas Photo Booth & Bake Sale: The photo booth was a hit, with everyone posing for snaps with fun props and backdrops. And let's not forget the bake sale- so many tasty treats were on offer, from cookies to cupcakes
  • Candy Cane Gifting: They also set up an anonymous candy cane gift initiative, where students could send candy canes and sweet messages to friends and teachers.

Altogether, these activities raised an amazing £300.87 for the Wings of Hope charity. Huge props to our Student Leadership for their hard work and creativity- it was all for such a great cause.

Eco Warriors' Toy Appeal and Giveaway
This year, our amazing Eco Warriors organised a toy appeal to help families and rehome unwanted toys/books. Thanks to the generosity of our school community, tons of toys were collected and given away at the end of the final day of term. It was a wonderful way to give back and show what the season of giving is all about. Great job, Eco Warriors!

This years Christmas events were a huge success, and they reminded us of all the joy, kindness, and togetherness that make this season so special. From singing and performing to giving back to the community, our students and staff really made a difference.

A big thank you to everyone who took part or helped organise these events- you made this Christmas one to remember! From all of us at the academy, we hope you have a Happy Christmas and a peaceful new year! 🎄
